Beyond beer: Octopi Brewing's $11 million expansion

A saturated craft beer market and the explosion of consumer interest in non-alcoholic beverages has prompted Octopi Brewing Co. to invest $11 million in expansion and new equipment at its production facility in the Waunakee Business Park.

According to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal, the expansion will enable Octopi Brewing to increase beer production, mostly for other beer companies, but it also will allow the company to be fully engaged in the production of non-alcoholic beverages such as teas, sodas, and flavored waters.

When the expansion is completed, Octopi will be able to increase beer production from 55,000 barrels this year to 90,000 barrels in 2020 and produce roughly 30,000 barrels of non-beer products. The company’s long-term plans are for beer to comprise only 50 to 60 percent of overall production.
