B-cycle use grows 29%
Madison cyclists took 81,662 bike rides and logged 173,940 miles with Madison B-cycle in its 2013 season. That represents a 29% increase in rides and 84% increase in miles over the previous season. The shared bike program, a for-profit partnership between Trek Bicycle and the City of Madison, operated for 269 days last year. B-cycle reported a 31% increase in “casual users” but a 14% decrease in its $65 annual memberships. The program offers 35 docking stations around Madison and 290 bicycles, with more of both planned in 2014.
