Area hospitals hit pandemic high occupancy
Dane County hospitals have recorded the highest number of patients since the pandemic began, according to officials at Public Health Madison and Dane County. The number of patients reported Jan. 11 was 197 compared to the previous high number of 184 recorded just the previous day and 179 cases recorded in November 2020. A daily record of 2,127 new COVID-19 cases was also recorded. The age-adjusted rate of new COVID-19 cases in Dane County is 1.9 times higher among residents not fully vaccinated than those fully vaccinated, and 4.3 times higher among the unvaccinated overall than those fully vaccinated.
