Area couple charged with operating fraudulent businesses
A couple living in a Fitchburg hotel were charged with posing as a fraudulent business after bilking customers of cash, according to a report from WMTV–NBC 15.
John A. French, 43, and Angela Venters, 39, were taken into custody for operating bogus companies listed on Craigslist. One Town of Bristol couple lost a 50% deposit for tile work that was promised but never started. Similar complaints occurred elsewhere in the state, as well as Florida.
The couple operated under a number of company names including: Creative Custom Tile & Granite, Pro Source Remodeling, Creative Custom Tiles, Artisan Custom Tile & Design, Clear Cut Painting and Remodeling, Fast Onsite Computer Repair, Brush Strokes Painting, and Certa Pro Painters. They are being held in the Dane County Jail.
