Apartment complex eyed for West Wash

An Illinois developer is looking to replace six West Washington Avenue homes, built between 1890 and 1930, with a six-story, 85-unit apartment complex that would emphasize small (400 sq. ft. or less) studio spaces.

One of the older homes could be relocated because of its historical and architectural significance, according to a report in The Capital Times.

The building, which would be on the corner of North Broom Street and West Washington Avenue, would be on a bus route that runs between the Capitol Square and Epic in Verona and target young professionals.

There would be 59 studios, 15 two-bedroom apartments, and 11 three-bedroom units.
