Aon Hewitt: Large Milwaukee employers face 5% increase in health care costs
An annual survey by the human resources consulting firm Aon Hewitt indicates that large employers in metropolitan Milwaukee will see a 5.2% increase in the cost of employee health insurance coverage, and their coverage costs will remain higher than the national average.
The survey said Milwaukee’s largest employers would spend an average of $12,691 per employee to provide health benefits, and spend an average of $5,238, or 5.9% more, for their share of insurance costs, including out-of-pocket expenses like deductibles.
In contrast, large employers nationally are projected to spend an average of $10,522 per employee on health benefits, which is 17% less than metro Milwaukee employers, and spend an average of $4,404 for their portion of health insurance costs.
The results are based on a survey of 466 large employers.
