American Superconductor plant to close

American Superconductor announced it will close its Middleton plant by the end of the year as it trims its total staff between 5% and 10%. Operations will be transferred to the company’s Massachusetts headquarters, and employees will reportedly be offered jobs there. It is unclear how many Middleton jobs will be affected, but it could be as many as 100. The company also has offices in New Berlin, which won’t be affected, and China.
