Access unveils initial concepts for Joyce and Marshall Erdman Clinic expansion
According to the Wisconsin State Journal, Access Community Health Centers plans to expand its South Park Street clinic. Madison-based Access currently has three clinics in the city and dental clinics in Dodgeville and Sun Prairie.
The company is looking to add on to its Joyce and Marshall Erdman Clinic at 2202 S. Park St., which opened in 2014. Initial plans for expansion include a 10,000–20,000-square-foot addition to the 22,000-square-foot facility. Access owns the land on which the clinic sits, but the city owns the adjacent area to the west on which it hopes to build.
Initial concepts were shared with the CDA so that Access can be incorporated in the city’s greater plans for the area. A formal proposal has yet to be submitted to the city, and construction would likely not start for two to five years. The expansion is estimated to cost at least $3–6 million.
Access is a federally qualified health center and receives federal money to provide care for those with low incomes, both with and without insurance, on a sliding fee scale. Around 60% of patients receive Medicaid or BadgerCare.
