Marquette poll: Biden, Sanders leading Trump head to head
The first Marquette Law School Poll more than a year away from the 2020 presidential election suggests that former Vice President Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders could defeat President Donald Trump in a head-to-head vote.
Results are preliminary and anything could change over the next 14 months.
The poll of 800 Wisconsin voters conducted Aug. 25–29 shows Biden would defeat Trump, 51 percent to 42 percent. Bernie Sanders, would also edge out the president, though by a smaller margin, 48 percent to 44 percent. A head-to-head matchup with Elizabeth Warren was a draw, at 45 percent.
As for the economic impact of the ongoing tariff war, optimism may be waning, with only 26 percent of respondents believing the economy will get better over the next 12 months, and 37 percent saying it will get worse.
