What are the most challenging and rewarding aspects of your job and why?

The pharmacy benefit world is extremely complex and constantly changing, so it’s necessary to keep up on the latest terminology and industry trends. It can be challenging to communicate to our members on an acceptable reading level and eliminate jargon, but that’s also why I love my job. A high point in my career was my first promotion last fall to communications manager at National CooperativeRx after the departure of my former supervisor. I had only been with the company for a year and a half and felt honored to be trusted enough to perform well in this role.

Thinking back on your career, what advice would you give your 21-year-old self?

I would tell my 21-year-old self not to care what others think of you. If you’re focused on your work and achieving your goals, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. Also, don’t spend too much time every day worrying about your appearance and whether you have the right outfit on — the quality of work you produce is so much more important.
