September home sales announced
Tight inventory continues to push Dane County’s home sale prices up, according to the South Central Wisconsin MLS. The median sale price is now $295,000 compared to $279,837 in September 2018, a 5.4 percent increase. Year to date through September, the number of homes sold (6,124) declined by 3.3 percent compared to the same period in 2018 (6,332).
“Supply is 40 percent of what it was pre-recession, while demand has increased due to high employment rates, competitive financing, and pent-up demand from the recession. Housing that is traditionally seen as more affordable (under $350,000) faces an even steeper challenge,” states a SCWMLS release.
