Middleton airport planning slows down

It’s back to the drawing board for the city of Middleton after the public objected to what was described as faulty data supporting a longer runway at Middleton Municipal Airport, according to an article in the Middleton-Cross Plains Times-Tribune.

City officials had been informed that in a survey of potential airport users who live in surrounding states, 84 percent favored a 5,000- to 5,500-foot runway, which would add another 1,000 feet or more to the existing 4,000-foot runway.

After the public’s negative response to that finding, the city’s contract with the state Bureau of Aeronautics and engineering firm Mead & Hunt could be amended to consider other alternatives, including a no-build option.
