Energizer moving plant to Portage
Energizer Brands, which purchased Rayovac from Spectrum Brands, announced it will close a battery manufacturing plant in Bennington, Vermont and move it to Portage.
According to a Wisconsin State Journal report, the existing Portage plant, formerly a Rayovac plant, currently employs about 225 workers and can expand. In an updated story from the Bennington Banner, the move will happen in phases and should be completed in 2021.
The Vermont plant currently employs about 90 workers, and the economically challenged area is reportedly reeling from the news.
