WARF loses $506M award on Apple appeal
The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation will not receive $506 million from Apple Inc., after all.
In July 2017, U.S. District Judge William Conley upheld a jury’s findings that Apple had infringed on a WARF computing patent for technology now found in several of the tech giant’s products including iPhone 6, 6S, and 7. Apple appealed, and now the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C. has reversed the decision, meaning WARF will not receive any of the award money.
WARF is now looking at its options, including one that could take the case to the U.S. Supreme Court, according to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal.
