With the success of Exact Sciences’ Cologuard at-home colon cancer screening kit, the local company continues to plan for expansion over the next two to five years, even before current construction is completed.
According to a story in the Wisconsin State Journal, the company’s expansion along the Beltline would add two-story additions to both the east and west sides of the laboratory and warehouse, and seven more loading docks, but everything is preliminary at this point.
Exact Sciences’ latest plan is sparked by a recent FDA decision to allow the use of Cologuard for a younger audience — adults between 45 and 49 — which increases the company’s market by 22 percent.
Exact Sciences has two other locations in the city, on Badger Road and in University Research Park, and currently processes 7 million stool tests per year.
