JDS parking lot could open downtown by October
Madison’s downtown will get a new 560-space parking ramp by fall, thanks to the expected completion of the new underground parking facility that is part of the Judge Doyle Square development. The garage will replace the former Government East ramp downtown, which will be demolished by the city immediately afterward, according to a report in The Capital Times.
The ramp will be the first completed segment of the JDS project, a two-block area that will include housing and a 250-room hotel just off the Capitol Square.
After years of debate, Beitler Real Estate Services of Chicago is moving forward on hotel plans that will replace the Government East ramp, while the city is handling the redevelopment of Block 88.
