Cress Funeral Service sold to Canadian firm
Cress Funeral Service Inc. has been acquired by Park Lawn Corp. out of Canada, according to a company release. The purchase price is reportedly $20.3 million, and closing remains subject to regulatory approval, which is expected in the second quarter of 2019.
Park Lawn Corp. operates in five Canadian provinces and 12 U.S. states and provides goods and services associated with the disposition and memorialization of human remains. The addition of Cress Funeral Service, which has been owned and operated by Bill Cress and his family, expands Park Lawn's Wisconsin footprint by adding eight funeral homes and two crematoria to its portfolio.
Editor's note: A previous version of this article erroneously stated that with Park Lawn’s acquisition of Cress, Ryan Funeral Homes & Cremation Services becomes the last multilocation, family-owned funeral home business with a Madison location.
