Evers: Foxconn to hire 1,500
In a recent interview with CNBC, Gov. Tony Evers says he believes that Foxconn Technology Group will hire 1,500 people by next May, when production begins at its new display panel plant in southeastern Wisconsin.
Evers has expressed doubt that Foxconn will hire the 13,000 workers it promised as part of a 2017 agreement with the state of Wisconsin. The Taiwanese electronics manufacturer did not meet job targets last year, failing to qualify for job-creation incentive payments, and has downsized the type of factory it plans to build.
Foxconn needs to hire 1,820 workers by the end of 2020 to qualify for future job-creation incentive payments.
