Garver developer misses deadline
Baum Development, the Chicago-based developer of the $19.8 million Garver Feed Mill redevelopment, missed a June 30 deadline, leading the city of Madison to suspend its work on Garver Phase II, which includes the lodging (micro-unit hotel) portion.
The city, according to an article from The Capital Times, repeatedly asked Baum for financial information but has only received incomplete data proving that it has the funding available to proceed.
Despite the news, restoration of the former feed mill building into a local food production facility continues. Regardless of the setback, the city remains interested in the Phase II plan, which included as many as 50 independent micro-lodges that would operate like a hotel on the 11-acre property.
Project Manager Bryant Moroder says Baum has the financing in place and is working to get the city the information it requires.
