Best Companies a measure of culture

From the pages of In Business magazine.

Back in late May, IB hosted its first ever “Think Tank” discussion on corporate culture, a topic that is of great interest to companies of all sizes and in all industries (read our recap of this event on page 37). We convened local experts who spoke on several important topics pertaining to corporate culture and had an open dialogue with business leaders and human resource executives who attended this daylong event. There were a number of key takeaways from our speakers and many best practices shared between attendees throughout the day. One thing became very clear: a company’s culture is absolutely vital in the recruitment and retention of key employees.

With this in mind, we’d like to provide businesses throughout south-central Wisconsin an opportunity to once again show off their organizational culture with our annual “Best Companies to Work For” feature that will be included in our October 2017 edition. If you feel as if your company stacks up with the best in terms of corporate culture — specifically your benefits package — I would highly encourage you to fill out IB’s “Best Companies” online survey form to be considered for one of the top spots this year.

The survey form includes everything from health, dental, and vision insurance, wellness programs, retirement plans, life and disability insurance, childcare offerings, work-life balance benefits, diversity and inclusion programs, and much more. This is the perfect opportunity to showcase your company as one of the best places to work — recognition that can certainly help attract and retain the best and brightest.

If you are the top executive or a top HR manager at your company, fill out the online survey form at www.IBMadison.com/bestcompany before the Aug. 15 deadline. The IB editorial team will then score each company based on an internal system weighted in specific benefit categories. To qualify, your company’s headquarters must be located in Dane, Columbia, Dodge, Green, Iowa, Jefferson, Rock, or Sauk counties.

We’ll be handing out “Winners” and “Finalists” in three different categories: Large Company (200+ employees), Medium Company (50–199 employees), and Small Company (1–49 employees).

Recruiting and retaining good people is harder than it’s ever been. So now’s the time to put your organization into consideration for one of the top spots in 2017 and demonstrate the culture that makes it such a great place to work.
