Plan Commission denial on part of proposed Amazon site is appealed
The Madison Plan Commission’s denial of a part of a proposed Amazon distribution center project is being appealed by property owner Leo Ritter & Co., according to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal.
The New York-based firm owns a 13.3-acre parcel at 3650 Milwaukee St. on Madison’s east side, and intends to buy an adjacent three-acre parcel at 3630 Milwaukee St. Under development plans announced last month, the two sites would be leased to Amazon for the construction of a package delivery center. The main facility would be built on the larger parcel using part of an existing 228,100-square-foot building.
Ritter contends the Plan Commission made a mistake in denying the proposed use of the smaller parcel, which would accommodate a driveway, additional parking, and a stormwater management facility. It has asked the City Council to reverse the decision or it will have to amend plans for the smaller parcel, which would delay approvals, or look for another site.
