Local TV tower work could — finally — be done by spring

There may soon be good news for those people who have been unable to watch the over-the-air signals for local television stations WISC-TV3 and WMSN Channel 47 since last October. The FCC-mandated tower work could be completed before spring.

University Research Park, which hosts the land on which the shared “candelabra” TV tower sits, was close to securing a Milwaukee area company, Higgins Tower Service, to complete the work, according to a Wisconsin State Journal update. A previous company started work last fall but was faced with weather challenges, such as a snowy Halloween, that made climbing the 1,400-foot tower too dangerous.

Weather-permitting, the new crew will begin work next week and the project could be completed in about three weeks.
