City Council denies applications for Silk Exotic
Upholding a recommendation from its Alcohol License Review Committee, the Madison City Council has voted down applications from Silk Exotic Madison East Gentlemen’s Club to operate a strip club on East Washington Avenue, according to an article in The Capital Times.
Citing the “health, safety, and welfare of the community,” the council rejected licenses for alcohol, entertainment, and adult entertainment.
The site is where the controversial Visions is currently located at 3554 E. Washington Ave., but Visions is serving a 90-day suspension after years of neighborhood complains about disturbances, fights, and weapons violations. Silk had hoped to purchase Visions and reopen under the Silk banner.
There is still a chance that Visions could reopen, pending a review by the Alcohol License Review Committee and the resolution of an outstanding building inspection violation.
