State exports up 6%
Bolstered by a 71.1% jump in exports to Saudi Arabia that totaled $796 million and was largely related to military vehicles, Wisconsin’s exports increased 6% in 2017.
According to a release from Gov. Scott Walker’s office, state businesses exported $22.3 billion in goods and services to 202 countries, a 6.1% increase over 2016.
Wisconsin also set records in exports to Mexico (+4.8% to a record $3.2 billion) and China (+21.6% to $1.7 billion).
Exports of dairy, eggs, and honey products were up 19.9% over 2016 to $297 million. Industrial machinery remains the state’s top export category at $5.4 billion, accounting for 24% of all Wisconsin exports.
