The long-awaited restoration work at the Garver Feed Mill in Madison finally began Dec. 4 after Baum Development of Chicago successfully closed on the deal.
Bachmann Construction has begun the process of restoring the building’s interior and exterior masonry, roof, and floors under the watchful eyes of the National Historic Register and the City of Madison Historic Preservation Office. The feed mill was built in 1904.
By spring 2019, the building will emerge as an artisan food-processing facility surrounded by up to 50 micro lodges on five acres that will be operated as a hotel.
Madison College’s construction program is building the mostly “tiny” houses that will be available for rent in the summer of 2019.
