Building better buildings

While not profitable yet, AkitaBox is rapidly expanding. It has the backing of some equity investors and currently serves clients in 37 U.S states. In the past year, its workforce has multiplied from 11 to 83 employees.
“When we first started, we tried to help define what ‘startup’ meant to us,” Hoffmaster recounts. “For us, it’s doing more than anyone thinks is possible with less than anyone thinks is possible. It doesn’t matter if we have 11 employees or 83.”
For now, all revenues are being pumped back into the business.
“We’re solving a very, very big industry problem,” states Hoffmaster. “The majority of the world is already built and was built before we ever had technology.
“There was no system out there to collect that data before AkitaBox.”
