New donation program helps health care workers and restaurants
Would anyone like to help both front-line health care workers and struggling restaurants in the war against COVID-19? There is now a quick and easy way to do so, thanks to a new initiative called Paying it Forward to Health Care Heroes.
Companies and individuals can go to the Health Care Heroes website and donate money for restaurant gift cards that are then distributed to health care workers each day. By making a donation to your favorite restaurant and identifying your gift for Health Care Heroes, the restaurant will turn your donation into a gift card that they will transfer to the hospitals and clinics.
After hearing from the UW Hospital administration that community members have reached out and asked how to support health care workers, Thomas Bradley Insurance put together the initiative as a way for people and organizations thank health care workers, and support restaurants, during these unprecedented times.
This initiative is being done in partnership with UW Health, UnityPoint Health–Meriter, the Wisconsin Restaurant Association, Madison Originals, Food Fight Restaurant Group, and approximately 50 other local restaurants.
Hospital administration will distribute gift cards to staff as they end their long work shifts, and participating restaurants need to offer pick up or delivery service to benefit from this effort.
