Why Congress is a national joke

Congressional approval ratings are about as low as they can get, about 11% according to a recent CNN/ORC International poll, and there is little mystery as to why. From a U.S. Senate that refuses to adopt a budget, to the liberal vilification of U.S. Senator Ron Wyden, an Oregon Democrat now labeled as a progressive traitor for partnering on entitlement reform with Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan, the American public is in a state of deep agitation with these high-priced bellhops.

Come to think of it, Mark Neumann the politician is optimistic as well, in part because he has confidence in the business climate being created by the man so many people here revile – Gov. Scott Walker.

Free enterprise on trial? How about government intervention instead?

In his 1981 inaugural address, President Ronald Reagan famously said, “In this present crisis, government isn’t the solution to our problems, government is the problem.” I recall that phrase amid the Bain Capital controversy, which has injected some much-needed life into the Republican presidential primary.
