Pushing past the weight-loss plateau

This week, IB checks in with Bonnie Bailey, business development, SVA, who is competing in the individual challenge.

Weight loss plateaus are not much fun. That is my thought for this week.

I’ve been doing really well with my eating and exercise, and the weight and inches have been coming off nicely. My check-in with my trainer showed I’ve lost 5 inches in my waist, which is totally awesome in my world. I’m very happy with the progress I have made over the past four months. And now is when the rubber meets the road. It is getting harder to take off the pounds. It is easy to become unmotivated.

But the challenge is still going on and I am so glad it is. Participating in this is helping me stay focused and on track. I did some website browsing and found these three facts about weight loss plateaus:

  1. They are very common.
  2. The more weight you lose, the more your weight loss slows.
  3. Losing weight becomes harder the closer you get to your ideal weight.

Well, to this I say, duh! Now, what should I do? It’s time to re-evaluate what I eat, switch up my exercise routine, and not get discouraged.
