Ten professionals and 10 teams are competing in the 2015 Get Fit Challenge. Who will earn the healthiest marks? Follow along on Facebook and then find out at the In Business Expo & Conference on Oct. 21. This week, IB checks in with Riley Ruegsegger from the Applied Tech team, which includes team members Cliff McDonald and Dustin Serrault. Stay tuned for future blogs from the team.
When I was approached about taking part in the Get Fit Challenge I was very excited — not only to represent Applied Tech, but also to jumpstart a summer workout routine! It just so happens I am also getting married this fall; yet another reason to get in shape!
After my initial Get Fit baseline test I got to work creating a program. I wanted to put something together that was conducive to my goals, as well as my fiancée’s. We decided that a combination of cardio and body weight exercises would be a great place to start. As we started to get our legs under us (pun intended) we thought it would be nice to have something that would track our activity and progress, so we each got a FitBit — it has been a life changer.
It provides a very easy way to track workouts, calories, steps, food intake, and sleep. It has ultimately lead to a much healthier lifestyle. We set our goal at 10,000 steps a day. (I walk the dog every chance I get to get my step number up!) It’s a great way to challenge yourself and friends. It also allows me to quantify my workouts if I am doing something other than running (soccer, basketball, and volleyball). It has been well worth the investment!
