Peddling race guilt for a price

Assembly Speaker Robin Vos has plumbed the data and finds that campuses in the University of Wisconsin system are not inviting conservative speakers in the first place.

“My office obtained records from the UW System on the invited speakers at the four-year UW System schools in 2015 who were paid with taxpayer dollars. … Our review found roughly $2.7 million was spent on guest speakers in 2015. … Not surprisingly, a large number were easily identifiable as being liberal. The same was true with smaller schools.”

Speaker Vos found that UW–Platteville paid the largest amount for a single speaker, one Kathy Ober, a former professor at University of Massachusetts–Amherst and co-founder of the Social Justice Training Institute. She spoke three times to the privileged farm boys and girls at Platteville and walked away with $45,000 of guilt-ridden lucre.

Social Justice Training Institute describes itself as “progressive.” We missed its White Privilege Conference in Kansas City last April.

“What is noticeably absent in the top paid speakers to the UW System were individuals with conservative, political or social, perspectives. Within the top 50 taxpayer-funded guest speakers, we identified less than a handful of conservatives,” Vos told told RightWisconsin.

This is a university system asking for an extra $42.5 million in the next budget biennium but has enough funds for a separate but presumably equal safe space for black students in the Old Red Gym on its Madison campus and $150,000 worth of “cultural competency” training. (I’d settle for constitutional government competency.)

What passes for diversity at our college campuses is superficial and skin deep. It assesses melanin, not intellectual diversity. Not that the Progressive Dane-inspired peanut gallery can tell the difference, as they will shortly prove in the space below.

Coprolite is a pretty big word for Dave, and even more surprising is that Dave would have to acknowledge that the world is more than 5000 years old. Or maybe he just chose this word as his insult of the week rather than understand the meaning.. Science can be tricky for non-believers and flat-earthers like DB...

I wonder what the difference is between those who would boo a quarterback for protesting his government by kneeling in a football stadium and those who would boo the former governor of Alaska for protesting her government by delivering a shrill list of complaints on the capitol square in liberal Madison.

Answer: Blaska loathes one group, parties with the other.

He makes some good points regarding freedom of speech. But he's intellectually inconsistent and not a little lazy. Blaska and his fellow conservatives are put upon, living so near one of the great public universities in the world. They couldn't get in, so now they're dismantling the joint.

Dave,

You know you've made undeniable points when the Anonymice can only respond with ad hominem silliness.
