with David Blaska

Obamacare isn’t failing; it just needs more mandates, penalties, and taxes — seriously!

•  No such thing as voter fraud? In Virginia, a young Democrat is caught voting for 19 deceased World War II veterans, according to this report. On the other hand, 19 dead World War II vets? Where do I vote? We could do worse.

•  Don’t be surprised if we see Jimmy Carter at Sequoya Library. Democrats call on DOJ to monitor Wisconsin elections.

•  “Sarah Palin warns America: we will hold you accountable if Trump is cheated out of a win.” Colonel Tim Donovan says, “I can see how irrelevant she is from my house.”

•  Our … acquaintances who are worried that Trump won’t accept the results may have a vague feeling of déjà vu all over again. Ann of Althouse recalls a certain storming of the State Capitol in 2011 after the election of a certain Wisconsin governor.

•  Parting volley: if Dave Zweifel, Paul Fanlund, or John Nichols have a cross word to say about the Clinton machine’s cynical play for pay operations, they’re keeping it to themselves. Seriously!

Less than 7% of Americans covered by ACA. Election changer? Keep dreaming.

An expensive, unwieldy, byzantine government program foisted on Americans by the liberal elites in Washington is FAILING????? STOP THE PRESSES! (Oh, and let's see if I understand your logic, Anon. 11:49: It's fine with you if 21 million Americans get hit with steep increases in their insurance premiums as long as it doesn't interfere with Hillary's political ambitions.)

Dave, glad to see you're following Krugman so closely. Start doing it more regularly and you may learn something.
All the other advanced nations of the world seem to have figured out how to provide their citizens healthcare. None of them would trade what they have for the goofy, inefficient, expensive, profit-based system that we have. But, "We're number one!" No, actually we're number 37. At least we beat Slovenia.
Man, do I miss the HMO I used to belong to in Madison. Here in the free market reddest of the red state we now live in, the insurance we have, provided by my wife's employer, is high-end coverage, but still maddeningly incomplete. We live in a medical hub city, yet they're all private little businesses and clinics that don't communicate or play well with each other, despite employing plenty of (low paid) administrative staff. What I wouldn't give for a single payer system, or at least to have a public option, like Medicare for all. Sorry free marketers, but capitalism sucks when it comes to healthcare delivery.

ACA: Developed by the conservative Heritage Foundation, and promoted and signed into state law by Gov. Mitt Romney, R-MA. Elites, yes. Liberal, no way.

Take Zweefs seriously? HAHA! I can't help but laugh at everything he writes. And I am surprised Alfred Nobel isn't rolling over in his grave after they gave Krugman one of his formerly coveted prizes. Dave, if they gave that idiot a Nobel Prize, you should have at least two!

I think the greatest concentration of poll monitors should be in Madistan, Milwaukee and along the Illinois border where all those buses come from. Those are the centers of vote cheating going on in this state. Our commie friends won't accept the results of the vote unless Hildebeast and Foolsgold win by wide margins. If Ron Johnson wins they'll be asking for a recall vote. It sure must suck to be a democrat.

Obamacare may be performing poorly, but it's not "cratering." What keeps it from cratering are those mandates and subsidies, and of these two the subsidies are by far the stronger medicine. .

It's performing poorly because, despite the penalty, it remains a poor deal for the young and healthy who are, therefore, declining to buy it. BUT it remains a good deal for those who receive large subsidies, especially those who are in poor health. And the penalties may convince at least a few that paying something for (an overpriced) something is better than paying something for nothing.

In short, the mandates but especially the subsidies insure that Obamacare will continue to be able limp on for some time and will not die in a death spiral. IF Obamacare were truly terminal then those who would replace it would be in a far stronger position, but, that's just not the case.

21 million Americans WON'T be hit with steep increases. 84% will be NOT be affected because of subsidies. My logic and me continue to await the details of the assuredly brilliant repeal and replace plan. Hillary's political ambitions and Dave Blaska's electoral wishes are two sides of the same coin. One guess as to which way it''s going to land.

We must ask ourselves if it is more hideously ironic to call the signature legislation of our lame duck president ObamaCare or Affordable?
Or as Jon Stewart posed the question, "How are they going to spin this turd now?

you meant that the ACA decreased the number of americans who were previously uninsured from 18 to 13%, didn't you? Because if you didn't mean that, your stat is incorrect.

How's it working for you, Dave? Aren't you covered for life? Why can't everyone be covered for life like you? Because we didn't get cupcake jobs with the state?
