Cause and effect or vice versa? You decide. The Daily Beast reports:
Despite an early jump in murders and shootings in the new year, the Chicago Police Department’s investigative stops are down 80 percent and fewer guns are being confiscated, DNA Info reports. Since Jan. 1, there have been 72 more shootings — a 218 percent increase — and 10 more murders than there were in the same time period during 2015. Mayor Rahm Emanuel said in 2015 that officers had become “fetal” over fear that they would end up in newspapers or charged with a crime.
Or, just maybe, Chicago is more murderous because of reduced police presence, aka: the Ferguson Effect.
Stage 4 Walker derangement syndrome. That is the diagnosis for the Corporation that Speaks in the Progressive Voice (but thinks in the past tense). Biopsy this editorial: “Scott Walker's unpardonable disregard for his duty in Avery case.” Walker should pardon Steven Avery? The murderous lowlife hasn’t even asked for a pardon!
Banned in Britain — Watched C-Span’s coverage Monday of a British Parliament committee’s debate over banning Donald Trump from the U.K. for his comments on banning Muslims. There’s irony for you. The petition sought to do that which it purports to condemn: to prohibit entry to someone because of his beliefs. Religion, after all, is a system of beliefs. The P.C. movement is not confined to the Colonies.
Hail Mary, but cover Larry! Is any team more entertaining than the Green Bay Packers? 2016 resolutions:
- Weight Watchers for Eddie Lacy.
- No training camp for Jordy Nelson.
- Trade draft picks for a run-blocking, pass-catching stud at tight end.
- Thank James Jones for his services; play more Jeff Janis and Jared Abbrederis.
- Let Aaron Rodgers call the plays.
You know it’s cold outside when you go outside and it’s cold.
