‘Stop trying to fix the police; fix the ghetto’

Congratulations! You qualify for our Platinum Subscriber Bonus: Today’s blog is twice as mean-spirited as the entry-level version.

I give Donald J. Trump credit. A lot of credit.

Still think we could do a better — a lot better. But the Trumpster is one of the few major political figures in America returning fire in the war against police, aside from Sheriff David Clarke and Rudy Giuliani. (The former mayor, in fact, is credited with co-writing Trump’s speech last night in West Bend.)

Trump proved once again that he could read a teleprompter. Good for him. But he chose to read the right speech, words that have never crossed The Current Occupant’s teleprompter or his chosen successor’s mendacious lips.

“The war on our police must end and it must end now,” Trump said last night in West Bend, two nights after a weekend of anti-police rioting in Milwaukee. Simple, direct, and — zut alors! — not subject to misinterpretation. (Yes, it IS the candidate’s responsibility to make himself understood.)

“The problem in our poorest communities is not that there are too many police, it’s that there are not enough police,” Trump said.

Where is Barack Obama on the violence in Milwaukee? Answer: Vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard. (For that matter, where is the president on the flooding in Louisiana? George W. was pilloried for flying low over New Orleans to get a bird’s eye view of the devastation; Obama hasn’t even done that!)

Where is Hillary Clinton? Milwaukee doesn’t fit her narrative: the cop was black and the dead guy armed with greater firepower and a history of violence. That doesn’t stop the usual suspects from spinning out excuses like the sorcerer’s apprentice.

The Great Equivocator (he writes a column for the Wisconsin State Journal) criticized our photo of young Sylville Smith aiming a firearm at the camera. The Squire is contributing to a stereotype, don’t cha know. (Or maybe it’s Sylville Smith who is doing that? Still searching for the requisite cap and gown photo.)

The peanut gallery responding to Monday’s blog (“Quick, send more free stuff”) proffered all kinds of excuses as to why young Sylville should choose violence rather than accomplishment, why he could not drive his car to a place of employment, why the rioters were justified in burning down their neighborhood.  (How many second-, third-, and fourth-chances did the criminal justice system give this guy?)

The grievance industry teaches that it is always someone else’s fault: your poverty, your criminality, and your indolence — not your fault.

Guilty white liberals should flock to the University of Wisconsin’s proposed “cross-cultural competency” training. Talk about buzzwords! Liberal dog whistle for washing white privilege, work ethic, and personal responsibility out of your hair. “Cross-cultural competency” training? The legislature needs to take another nick out of the UW budget.

The war on police takes many forms. Another is the complaint against police Chief Mike Koval to the Madison Police and Fire Commission. It was signed by Tony Robinson’s grandmother. (You’ve got to see her to believe her!) Do not think for a minute that she wasn’t put up to it by the city’s liberal-progressive-socialist power structure. It’s the rapture for cop haters like Brenda Konkel.

I have been preaching for months now that the erosion of personal responsibility/ cult of victimization in too many urban areas is THE great domestic issue. And who is most hurt by the liberal-progressive-socialist guilt trip? Young men of color. They’re killing each other.

Wrong again, your drivel today is no more, or less, mean-spirited than others you post. You just used different words in a slightly different sequence.

And what does it all mean ? That you are working yourself up to voting for the Big Pumpkin come November. Those of us that read your work often had no doubt you would go all-in for Trump, so the show must be for those occasional readers.

OK, who had 3:01 p.m. on August 17 in the pool for "Exact moment Blaska will flip for Trump"?

Ah, Rudy Giuliani. Everyone's favorite mayor who can't remember what year the Sept. 11 terror attacks occurred, even though it was his big shining moment to look good while doing nothing. Can't think of a better person to co-write a Trump speech.

The world would be a better place without busybody cops. Let the neighborhoods of Milwaukee police themselves. Minority neighborhoods know what is best for their communities and they don't need white fools and Uncle Toms micromanaging. If the cop had left that man alone none of those stores would have been burned.

Interesting story here and, frankly, the kind of thing I'd expect from a publication devoted to actual economic development. Instead, we simply get political blathering.

Scott Walker's WEDC has claimed to create nearly 500 jobs in the Sherman Park area of Milwaukee. In reality, there's no evidence it has done anything of the sort.

Where are Obama and Clinton? Good questions.

Where is Scott Walker?

"Surge in lawlessness." Please define, show evidence of, expand upon.

Just because it's the fear topic du jour for Trump apologists (I love the quiet walk back into his camp you're doing here) doesn't mean it's actual.

The country has essentially halved its national homicide rate since 1991.

The latest details about the late Mr. Smith: according to someone claiming to be his grandfather, he suffered from a "mental condition" and had to take some special ed classes in high school and only carried a gun because that was his way of surviving in the ghetto. (Apparently going to school or getting job training in order to eventually move out of the ghetto wasn't an option.) I'm waiting for the day when the "experts" decree that criminal activity of any kind is a manifestation of mental illness. Will that come before or after the day that every American qualifies as "disabled" in some way or another and therefore eligible to go on the dole.

A case in point: Tony Robinson's grandmother who claims to suffer from PTSD due to the trauma of seeing her drug-addled, criminal grandson meet an untimely end. Meanwhile she's filed a complaint against Chief Koval for expressing his contempt at her ravings against him and the Madison PD. Wonder how much the liberal hand-wringers on the City Council will award her in damages.

Maybe we should all sign up for the UW's program in "cultural fluency" (there's a phrase that would have made George Orwell cringe); i.e., a crash course in what white people can and can't say on campus. I'm daring to hope that at least some of the students, professors, and staff who are being dragooned into this social experiment have the guts to boycott it and to loudly and publicly proclaim their reasons for doing so. Write Rep. Steve Nass and express your outrage. I suggested that he propose withholding every dime of the UW's budget until this taxpayer funded curtailment of free speech is scuttled.

Blaska, you and your ilk continue to astound intelligent observers on how out of touch and misunderstood you are on these social issues and the BLM movement. You can't transform a community by simply stating they are bad and they should pull themselves together. You don't break people out of the cycle of poverty by cutting education, healthcare and other public services from a struggling community. You and the rest of the Republicans are so oblivious to your own privilege that you can't comprehend how entire class / race can't get in line. This blog entry is further proof of your ignorance. Sheriff Clark and Chief Koval should be asking for funding for an army of social workers and additional social programs not police officers. If you haven't figured that out yet I am sorry for you.

Don't trust the government. Unless it's saying the officer was in danger.
