10/25/11Iconic Greater Madison: Six intriguing ideas from readersIn a past blog – and my IB print column – I announced a contest to suggest an iconic “it” that would put Greater Madison on the map (in a good way, for a change). The goal was, as a collective populace, to commit to doing something that would further our quality of life, but at the same time, REALLY promote economic development and tourism. |

10/18/11Give us your best story pitch in person! How often do you get a chance to promote your company one-on-one with a business editor or radio talk show host? Tomorrow is your best chance, at the In Business Expo & Conference at the Alliant Energy Center, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Jan Wilson will be at the IB booth for much of the day taking story ideas – she’ll have a laptop and she’ll be taking notes for consideration by the editorial board for our print and Web readerships. |

10/11/11TASC wins Best in Business Award: Here’s why“While we’ve won other awards over the years, this one is special,” was the opening remark offered by Bruce Stein during an emotional Best in Business Award presentation Monday at the company’s national headquarters in Madison. To paraphrase, the marketing executive summarized, “This one is given to us by representatives of a wide group of businesses and organizations in Dane County that understand our role here as an industry leader and contributor to the community’s greater good. That’s a very meaningful and humbling honor.” |

10/04/11Traveling in the company of heroesI’m beyond excited to report this week that, come this November, I’ll be accompanying the Honor Flight, which honors America’s World War II veterans for all of their sacrifices by transporting our heroes to Washington, D.C., to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to the senior veterans – World War II survivors, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill. The flight, for these vets, is absolutely FREE and is covered by donations. Guardian fees of $500, for those accompanying the veterans to assist them, are not covered by donations. |
