06/28/11Word Play: An ongoing Patrick and Nana adventureMy grandson Patrick, 10, shivered. Glancing at his skinny little goose-fleshed arms, I could see he was cold. We were sitting at the Country Inn this past Sunday at Lamb’s Farm, one of our favorite “get in the muck with the goats and sheep” adventure sites. We had decided to begin with breakfast before going into the barnyard, and the room was rather chilly. “Should we buy you a sweatshirt?” I wondered aloud. The day was hot, but the dining room was over air-conditioned. |

06/21/11Random acts of kindness – IB staff sets out with $25 each to “pay forward”In the July edition of IB (print magazine), you’ll read what our staff is doing to celebrate every issue we publish, but I’m giving you a sneak peek at the results of our latest celebration, wherein we did “Random Acts of Kindness.” Participating employees (we didn’t ask folks to cancel vacation plans to do it) set out with $25 each to spend in the community at large – anonymously. Our staff was given a couple hours off to go and find the perfect opportunity to spread some unexpected joy, and I’m proud of their doggedness in doing good deeds! |

06/14/11Another dinner party reveals 10 more lying guests!Just when I think I’ve identified the best liars in town, Lisa Nelson and I host another dinner party. As loyal readers know, we bring people around a “guess-who-is-coming-to-dinner” table at an area restaurant to bond over a game called Two Truths and a Lie. (And then I gossip with you in this blog about what the guests had to say for themselves.) |

06/07/11Guess who’s coming to dinnerWe thought we knew who we’d invited to a “Dinner with Lisa [Nelson] and Jody [Glynn Patrick]” party, but as the conversation proved, we had no idea who these people really were! Initially, they appeared somewhat meek, meeting each other for the first time and on their best behavior, but the dinner game of “Two Truths and a Lie” soon brought out the courage in everyone to tell us who they REALLY were – deep inside! |
