57 to lose jobs at American Girl

In an effort to control costs, Middleton-based American Girl announced it would cut 2.9% of its overall staff immediately, amounting to 57 jobs total, and 21 in Wisconsin, according to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal.

The doll and book producer saw a 30% decline in revenues year to year in third quarter, which ended Sept. 30.

The company has just over 1,900 employees worldwide, and nearly 500 in Middleton.
