$4M in federal funds earmarked for new Salvation Army shelter, community center
The Salvation Army of Dane County’s new shelter and community center is receiving a boost from a $4 million grant that is part of the bipartisan 2023 federal funding bill, according to a report from WMTV NBC-15.
The facility will provide housing to families, those who identify as a woman, and those who need wrap-around services, such as mental health programs.
The shelter and community center will be in the 600 block of East Washington Avenue and are part of a two-building campus, which includes affordable housing units. The new apartments are expected to be completed by February 2024.
