Publisher of In Business magazine for over 12 years, Jody was the 2007 national honoree in Washington, D.C. as "Journalist of the Year," chosen by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Jody is co-author (with husband Kevin) of During: A Couple's Intimate Experience with Breast Cancer Treatment. She was recipient of the Athena Award for her leadership role in mentoring women, and spokesperson (Rotary Club International's War on Hunger campaign), Guest of Honor (Madison Club's first charity gala), emcee (Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce's Annual Dinner; Dane County Small Business Awards), and she makes varied guest appearances (including keynote speaker for UW Hospital's annual hospital administrators meeting).
Prior to moving to Madison, Jody Glynn Patrick was a death and crisis counselor. She has served as Director of Western IL University's Hotline Crisis Center; Manager of the Chicago Ronald McDonald House; and Crisis Interventionist for a suburban-Milwaukee police department (at the same time heading the Cudahy-St. Francis Interfaith program). She moved to Denver to supervise a child abuse and neglect investigatory unit. While in Denver, she also was part owner of a family business. Writing has always been part of her life; while still involved in social service, she wrote a national award-winning newsaper column for Milwaukee and Chicago-area papers.
Today, Jody continues to find great pleasure in faith, family, profession, and community service. She is on the advisory boards of the Dane County Salvation Army and the Wisconsin Women's Business Initiative Corporation. She also is past president of the Business Development Group and an alumni of Leadership Greater Madison and many business and civic organizations. Following her personal interests, Jody founded Glynn Patrick & Associates, LLC. in 2004, which provides genealogical research and historical biographical writing. The company also does cemetery photography, with postings of over 9,000 tombstones in an effort to document and reclaim both family and community histories.
Under her leadership, In Business magazine received the prestigious "Psychologically Healthy Workplace" award from the Wisconsin Psychological Association for "balancing workplace mentorship with ethical business practices." |
