Jody has been publisher of In Business magazine over 15 years, and was the 2007 national honoree in Washington, DC as "U.S. Journalist of the Year," chosen by the U.S. Small Business Administration. She has been a reporter, editor and publisher for more than 20 years, and has won state and national journalism awards. She also was the 2005 Athena Award recipient for her leadership role in mentoring other professional women.
In addition to her responsibilities with In Business magazine, Jody works with the Dane County Salvation Army's Emergency Disaster Services division. In that capacity, she volunteers for an emergency canteen unit that responds to area, regional, and national disasters including floods, fire, police standoffs, and search and rescue efforts. Prior to a publishing career, Jody was a death and crisis counselor, serving as Director of Western IL University's Hotline Crisis Center, Manager of the Chicago Ronald McDonald House, and Crisis Interventionist for a suburban-Milwaukee police department.
Jody also is co-author (with husband Kevin) of During: A Couple's Intimate Experience with Breast Cancer Treatment. She was a spokesperson (Dane County Salvation Army and Rotary Club International's War on Hunger campaign), Guest of Honor (Madison Club's first charity gala), emcee (Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce's Annual Dinner and Dane County Small Business Awards), host (Extreme Networking Event), and she makes numerous guest appearances for In Business magazine and keynote presentations for audiences interested in best practices for breast cancer treatment (Iincluding keynote speaker for UW Hospital's annual meeting for hospital administrators). She also was featured on the cover of Brava magazine for her outreach to community. Following her personal interests, Jody founded and is President of Glynn Patrick & Associates, LLC, which provides genealogical research and historical biographical writing. The company also does cemetery photography, with postings of over 8,000 tombstones in an effort to document and reclaim both family and community histories.
Patrick also on the advisory board of the Wisconsin Women's Business Initiative Corporation. She is past president and member of the Business Development Group, alumni of Leadership Greater Madison, and member of many business and civic organizations. .
Today, she is a multi-tasking wife, mother, and grandmother who finds great pleasure in family, profession, Madison community service, and hosting "In Business with Jody and Joan" with Joan Gillman on Madison 1670 AM Talk Radio at 6 p.m. weeknights. |
