African attendees denied visas; local energy summit canceled

The US-Africa Energy Summit 2017 hosted by UW–Platteville was scheduled to take place Sept. 18–19 at Monona Terrace but has been canceled because several presenters and attendees from African nations were denied entry into the U.S., according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

Those turned down “did not meet the minimum requirements for a U.S. visa,” according to event organizer, John O. Ifediora, who is hoping to rectify the problem and reschedule the event.

Similar visa rejections forced the cancellation in March of the fourth annual African Global Economic and Development Summit hosted by the University of Southern California.

Maybe if the conference was in some GOP run city, they would have approved the travel. Trump continuing to hurt the U.S. economy, costing more jobs than he creates.
