Caitlin, you’re relatively new at your present job. What is your day-to-day role at the dental practice?
I started at Madison No Fear Dentistry in the beginning of July 2012. My day-to-day role includes examining patients; diagnosing diseases of the teeth, gums, and mouth; treating patients; educating; and promoting oral health.
What’s your priority, in terms of a long-range goal there?
I hope to always be continuing my education and advancing with the newest techniques clinically. I also hope to grow more into my leadership role at Madison No Fear Dentistry.
Have you spent time studying or working outside of Wisconsin?
I have always lived in Wisconsin. I was born in Fort Atkinson, completed my undergraduate studies in Madison, and attended dental school at Marquette University in Milwaukee.
Who has influenced your career the most, and in what way?
I would have to say my dad was my biggest influence, for instilling in me the value of education and hard work. He always supports me and encourages me to strive for my goals.
Did you always want to be a dentist?
I knew I wanted to be a dentist since I was in high school! I lost my front tooth in a Rollerblading accident and received excellent dental care. I was so intrigued with the dental field that I decided I wanted to be a dentist, and my career goals never changed.
Your very first paycheck: From where, how much, and what did you do with it?
My first job was cleaning the hair salon that my mom works for. I did it once a week and received $20 each week. I saved the majority of my money throughout my various jobs in middle school and high school, using it for college.
What do you do “beyond the office” that brings you happiness or relaxation?
My favorite thing to do after work is to cook. I love shopping at the farmers market and trying new recipes with my boyfriend. I am also very active and love to bike and run. I enjoy taking part in various races and have completed the Madison half-marathon twice. I am a huge Badgers and Packers fan and enjoy watching football.
I didn’t hear travel. Do you have a favorite destination when you do?
My favorite place to travel to is Manila in the Philippines. I have been there a few times to visit my aunt. I have made so many friends there, which makes it great place to vacation to.
Do you read for pleasure?
Recent title come to mind?
I really enjoyed The Hunger Games books.
Caitlin, we’re glad you chose Madison for your career, so welcome, and we’d like to end the interview by asking for three words you think best describe you. It’s hard, we know, but interesting for readers. And your three words are …
Compassionate, hardworking, and friendly.
