New State Street hotel getting closer
A $40 million, nine-story boutique hotel at the top of State Street is awaiting land-use approval after making additional tweaks to the project.
After about 15 designs, Eric Nordeen, co-founder of lead developer Ascendant Holdings, believes the latest changes made to the 130-room hotel will meet the approval of city officials, according to an update in the Wisconsin State Journal. The new designs will likely go before the Urban Design Commission Aug. 8.
The hotel would replace four parcels in the 100 block of State Street with a hotel that will be operated by Portland, Oregon-based Provenance Hotels.
