Golfing for a good cause

FGS The Restoration Company held its 24th annual Red Cross golf tournament on Friday, June 9, 2017. It was a resounding success with 104 golfers playing throughout the day at Edelweiss Chalet Country Club in New Glarus. With the help of generous sponsors, raffle prize/silent auction donors, and golfers, $20,000 was raised for the Southwest Wisconsin Chapter of the American Red Cross — $5,000 more than last year and the most in the event’s 24-year history! FGS partnered with Red Cross’s Tom Mooney, the chapter executive and regional chief operating officer, and Rachel Reichoff, senior corporate philanthropy officer, on the event. Tom’s moving speech during the luncheon highlighted how donations made it possible for the American Red Cross to assist the family members and others affected by the Didion plant explosion in Cambria, Wis., including providing licensed mental health professionals. The Red Cross also played an important role in facilitating temporary shelter and aid to displaced residents impacted by recent apartment complex fires in Manitowoc, Sun Prairie, Mazomanie, and Adams. It was enlightening to learn that the $20,000 donation will help the American Red Cross continue to respond to disasters that occur every day in our local communities! Mark your calendar and join FGS for another fabulous day of golf next year on Friday, June 1, 2018! (For information on getting your event featured in the IB Gallery, email jason@ibmadison.com.)
