4 local businesses close

Wild Child, a Monroe Street store offering fair trade and natural-fiber clothing, will close Feb. 17. The founders tried but couldn’t find a suitable buyer for the business, according to a story in the Wisconsin State Journal.

Mr. Brews Taphouse closed at 305 W. Johnson Street in downtown Madison, with the owners saying it was simply oversized and too costly to operate. The Mr. Brews business has 13 other locations and expects further expansion this year, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report.

Also from the State Journal, the Hail Mary Sports Bar on East Washington Avenue closed Jan. 15 after just eight months; and Park Street Shoe Repair, 609 S. Park St., closed after nearly 80 years when its longtime owner George Fabian retired.
