UW continues its high ranking for research

The National Science Foundation has ranked UW–Madison sixth among the nation’s top colleges for research and development funding.

The latest ranking is based on 2016 funding, which was listed at $1.16 billion. In 2015, the first year since 1972 that the UW wasn’t among the top five, the University spent roughly $1.07 billion and also ranked sixth.

Johns Hopkins University topped the list ($2.4 billion) followed by the University of Michigan ($1.4 billion).
