Group pushes for a greener MGE

Shareholders for Clean Energy, a group representing about 100 Madison Gas & Electric shareholders, submitted three resolutions to the Madison utility that it wants put to a vote at the company’s annual stockholders meeting next May.

According to a story in the Wisconsin State Journal, the group wants the Madison utility to focus on 100% use of renewable fuels and take more of a lead on electric cars and other modes of electric transportation.

MG&E has already pledged to slash carbon emissions and get 30% of the electricity it sells from renewable sources by 2030, but the shareholders group said those steps do not go far enough.
