Drury interested in entire MATC block
Hovde Properties’ decision to bow out of the downtown MATC campus redevelopment project has fueled interest from Drury Southwest, the Missouri hotel group planning to convert the campus into a 197-room hotel.
According to The Capital Times, Drury Southwest is now interested in developing the entire MATC site, including the parking lot at 211 N. Carroll St. that Hovde Properties had originally earmarked for a 10-story office building.
With Hovde out of the mix, MATC officials are still looking for a multistory development with parking and a mix of commercial space, and reports are that Drury is planning to incorporate many of Hovde’s ideas.
Construction wouldn’t begin until the summer of 2019 after MATC completely vacates the downtown property to relocate to a new south campus.
