Spectrum Brands, HRG deal complete

Spectrum Brands has finalized its merger with HRG Group, its majority (62%) shareholder. Reportedly, the deal will not affect Madison operations but it does give the combined companies a bigger pool of shareholders. HRG is a publicly traded holding company based in New York.

Former bathhouse owner fined

Charles Prindiville of Madison, owner of the Rising Sun bathhouse from 2003–2010, accepted a plea deal and was ordered to pay a $4,000 fine plus court costs for running a house of prostitution at the business on West Main Street in downtown Madison.

Preliminary job numbers for May from the Bureau of Labor Statistics report that Wisconsin gained 1,200 new manufacturing jobs in May, but that wasn’t enough to make up for the 5,300 private-sector jobs that were lost.
