with David Blaska

‘It’s time we stop, children; what’s that sound?’

It is 1968, that annus horribilis.

The incumbent is a lame duck. The world is aflame; America’s inner cities are burning. Hillary Clinton is Hubert Humphrey, that uninspiring establishment candidate, challenged by a Gene McCarthy figure: idealistic but ungrounded, with no chance of success.

On the Right, demagoguery competes with competence. Like George Corley Wallace, one candidate appeals to nativist instincts. He courts violence with violent rhetoric. The rabble is easily roused.

The hard Left is again mobilized in the cause of More Free Stuff. They’re ready to shut down the process, as they did this past Friday evening at the Trump rally. Chicago, 1968 and 2016. Suckers are punched and police officers are bloodied. Pepper spray stings the air. Our elections have become Brazilian.

What a field day for the heat

A thousand people in the street

Singing songs and carrying signs

Mostly saying, “hooray for our side” — Buffalo Springfield

Guests of The Stately Manor know that we are not a Trump safe house. But it is clear that socialists and anarchists set out to and succeeded in shutting down a political campaign event. In so doing, they only fuel the reaction.

Yes, Bernie Sanders bears responsibility. Those were his supporters in Chicago. So was man who tried to rush the stage in Ohio.

The Left likes to scream "Fascism!!!" at every shadow, but when the lights come up it always seems to be their guys wearing the brown shirts.

I agree with you for once, trump and his followers are cretinous goons (and that is giving goons a smear). But to blame Sanders for any of this is absolutely ridiculous. Blame all the folks on the far right for the continued assaults on free speech, starting with walker here in WI, and the legislature and the the head of Chez Blaska as well. Pot meet kettle.

You're condemning Trump except when you're endorsing him. "I'm no supporter of Trump, but..." should fly atop each of your blogs until he loses to Hillary Clinton in November.

Bernie Sanders is responsible for his supporters shouting down Trump? How? Because he paid their el train fees and gave them a map to the arena?

You're so right, Dave! When Mussolini was acquiring followers in Italy, his detractors were correct in sitting by and letting him take his turn at the podium. Clearly denying Trump his Chicago rally trumped his free speech rights. He told me so on the 15 cable TV interviews he's done since then.

Who talked tougher about Trump last week, Romney or Sanders? Who has more money to pay protesters in a city where paid protesters are common? And how do you suppose Romney would tell his paid protesters to act once inside an arena? Like a member of the college Republicans? Or like a Bernie Sanders supporter?

Back home, we call that two-fer.

Don't drink the kool-aid, Blaska. The left WANTS Trump to win. Desperately. It's the only thing that mitigates Berie's radicalism and Hillary's criminalism.

Tout what you're for instead of always railing against what you're, well, against. So now that Walker, Christie and Fiorina are roadkill, which side are you on, Dave? Which side are you on?

Can't wait for the Dandy Don columns in June.

Mainstream Media?

We had to import a foreign journalist because no American journalist would ask Hillary! "Will you run for president if you're indicted?"

Will DOJ indict her?
Not while she stands there paring her fingernails with a switchblade and says,
"Nice legacy you got there Barack. Wouldn't want anything to happen to it, would ya?"

Dave:

Did you note that Trump is now encouraging his supporters to use violence as well? Telling response from the republican nominee.
